It's a Wonderful Life is the timeless saga of George Bailey, an everyman whose dreams of escape and adventure have been quashed by family obligation and civic duty.  On a snowy Christmas Eve, George's guardian angel Clarence arrives to remind him - by showing him what the world would have been like had he never been born - that his has been, after all, a wonderful life.

And the Wings Award Goes To...

The Annual Wings Awards are the Huntsville Performing Arts Community's version of the Tony Awards. It's our chance to get all gussied up and celebrate theatre, music and dance.  Our emcee Greg Screws was delightful as always, and rumor has it it may have been the shortest program in recorded history.

Costume Sale Extended!

By popular demand, the Theatre Huntsville costume/vintage sale is hereby EXTENDED! We had so many requests for a chance to browse by people who simply couldn't make it on Saturday. So, we are offering a SECOND CHANCE sale on Thursday evening (10/18) from 5:30pm til 9pm, and on Friday (10/19) from 11 til 4pm. Be there, or MISS YOUR CHANCE to pick up some great stuff.

Shawn just may bring out a few heretofore unseen items...

The sale is at our rehearsal building located at 500 Plummer Rd, Huntsville. Near the intersection of Plummer Rd 7 Research Park Dr.

Costume Loft Clearance Sale!

Costume & Vintage Clearance!

Our volunteers been sorting thru the costume loft down at the Plummer Rd building for a few months now.  All of the torn, stained, and dry rotted stuff is disposed of and outta there. We've got about 1500 pieces that we just don't have room for.

We've got everyday clothes spanning several decades as well as cocktail and evening dresses.  Some hats, shoes and purses will be available as well.

We have men's clothing too - including a good number of tuxedos and suits. And ties - do we ever have ties!

All the prices will be great, and we're willing to negotiate!

The costume loft is just too darn full!  So we are going to have a sale.  On October 13, we'll have various and assorted costumes, clothing and vintage items for sale at our Rehearsal Hall at 500 Plummer Rd.

We're going to start sorting this Saturday 9/15 at 10am.  If you would like to get involved and volunteer get in touch with Shawn Fahy.

It's time to celebrate!  TH had a great season last year and we are so proud of the great work our members and volunteers brought to each and every show.  And what better way to celebrate than getting together for the 2012 Noah Awards. They will be held on Saturday October 6, 2012 at Lowe Mill from 2-6pm. We're all kinds of excited about having the event at Lowe Mill this year, and we sure hope that you will join us for the festivities.

Auditions! Prelude to a Kiss

Theatre Huntsville announces auditions for our January 2013 production - 'Prelude to a Kiss' by Craig Lucas.  The show is directed by Sam Marsh, assisted by Samantha Musto.

Audition dates are Sept 16 & 17, 2012, 7:00 pm both evenings. They will be held at the VBC Playhouse, 700 Monroe St, Huntsville, AL.





The cast includes 8 men, 4 women, plus several smaller and non-speaking roles available. No prepared material necessary, as we will be reading from the script.  Contact the director Sam Marsh at sam.marsh@comcast.net or TH at theatrehsv@bellsouth.net if you would like further information.

Performance Dates are Jan 11-12, 17-19, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. and July 13 & 19, 2013 at 2 p.m.  All performances will take place at the Von Braun Center Playhouse, 700 Monroe St, Huntsville, AL

Peter: 20s, works in documentation for publishing firm, honest and sincere - looking for love.

Rita: 20s, a bartender studying graphic design, quirky, cute, free-thinker.

Old Man: 70-80, stooped, sickly, tired.

Taylor: 20s, Peter's best friend and best man, out going - a faithful buddy.

Tom: 30-40, bartender friend of Rita.

Dr. and Mrs. Boyle: 50s, Rita's parents, nice people looking out for thier daughter's well-being, she's the mom in charge and he's the befuddled dad.

Minister: 40 or older.

Aunt Dorothy and Uncle Fred: 50s - 60s, more of Rita's relatives, whacky and goofy.

Waiter: any age

Leah: 40s, Old Man's daughter, good daughter worried about her ailing father.

Auditions! Its a Wonderful Life

When?  Sunday July 15 2012, 6:30 pm and Monday July 16 2012, 6:30 pm

Where? Von Braun Center Playhouse, 700 Monroe Street, Huntsville, AL

Who? There are parts for 12 men, 10 women, 2 boys, 2 girls (doubling possible).

Auditions will consist of reading from the script, no monologue necessary.  The rehearsal schedule will be announced after casting, but typically is 3-4 times per week. Please let the directors know at auditions if you have any conflicts, it may not keep you from being cast, but it will help when creating the rehearsal schedule.

We are all kinds of excited about our summer production of The Musical of Musicals - The Musical!, by Eric Rockwell and Joanne Bogart. 

In this hilarious satire of musical theatre, one story becomes five delightful musicals. The basic plot: June is an ingĂ©nue who can’t pay the rent and is threatened by her evil landlord. Will the handsome leading man come to the rescue? Each chapter is presented in the distinctive style of the musical masters Rodgers & Hammerstein, Sondheim, Jerry Herman, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Kander & Ebb.

LEND ME A TENOR RETURNS!

TH is heading into the second weekend of performances for our production of Lend Me A Tenor!  The first weekend was a great success - the audiences loved it and we received some great reviews of the show.  The Cast and Crew are rested and ready for four more shows a he Von Braun Center Playhouse!

Remaining performances are Thursday May 17 at 7:30 pm, Friday May 18 at 7:30 pm, and Saturday May 19 and 2:00pm and 7:30 pm.  Tickets are available at www.yourseatiswaiting.org or by calling 256-536-0807.

Theatre Huntsville announces auditions for "Greater Tuna" by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard.

Welcome to Tuna, Texas – the third smallest town in the Lone Star State! This hilarious send-up of small town morals and mores is a tour de farce of quick change artistry - changing costumes and personas faster than a jack rabbit runs from a coyote. Two actors, twenty characters and a barrel of laughs, ya'll.

Director Elaine Hubbard needs 2 men that can play a multitude of characters. That's right...just two fellers play the entire cast of 20+ eccentric characters of both genders and various ages.

Auditions: May 13 & 14, 6:30 pm
